Focusing the Mind

Jan, I always had a background belief that experiences of higher consciousness or spiritual bliss or quieted mind happen almost randomly with only the vaguest connection to effort, as if these moments were granted upon you through some inexplicable, non-duplicatable lineup of factors. The Focus Your Mind class made me see how childish that viewpoint is, and how you don't have to wait--at the mercy of forces other than yourself--for the extraordinary to occur. You can, in one moment, focus enough attention to change everything. Thank you for this class! My only wish is that it was ongoing.

Dear Jan, I want to thank you for offering the class focusing the mind, I missed one and feel it was a loss. Every class had a special gift for each of us attending. What I have found is with my daily practice I am peaceful, there is a serenity in my daily life, joy has taken the place of fear and anxiety. Just a few days ago I didn't take time to meditate and I found I had lost the simple pleasure of just being alive I was full of fear and anxiety, that was what I my whole life was dominated by until these past several months. Each class I take through LightSong School of Shamanic Studies, I become increasingly more connected to my true self. I'm really excited about the changes that continue to occur within myself and then my outward life is affected and changes to, it all goes together like a beautiful spiral dance.

Basic Journey Class

Your Shamanic Journey class (Level I) is one of the best experiences in my life. This was my first class in shamanic work. I didn't have specific expectations but I was astonished to be able to journey so easily and immediately. I was able to meet my beautiful power animal in my first journey.
I have been searching my whole life for a sense of purpose. Your class began a transformation within me the first evening in class. During the second day my journeying brought me to places that were waiting in my soul. On the third day in journeying I felt the most profound sense of being, quietness and peace I have ever experienced. I know this feeling is available to me now. My heart has awakened, and my soul is so much more at peace. I know shamanic studies will be a very important part of my life. Thank you Jan. Your assistants were also gracious, kind and helpful.

My life today is drastically different than it was one short year ago (although it feels like a lifetime ago!) My belief systems about life and the universe have been shredded and turned upside down. I am now shirting into a space where I not only believe intellectually, but with every cell of my body, that the spirit realm exists. I am beginning to remember that I have a role in play in this new-found reality. I am remembering who I am and for the first time in this life, I'm excited to be on the Earth in human form at this time.
The momentum for this transition started building around the time I made my first phone call to you last fall. I knew then that the fear and nervousness I felt as I dialed your phone number was probably an indication that you held the magic I was looking for to continue my growth in a BIG, profound way. I had no concept at the time what form that BIGNESS could take. I hadn't a clue what amazing changes were in store for me as I opened the door to your teachings and the vast world you live in. Gradually, I've opened up to your gifts, your wisdom - and its only beginning!
I feel truly blessed to have crossed paths with such an inspiring, powerful, genuine human being. Words do not exist that adequately express the gratitude and love I feel for you.

21st Century Shaman, Level 2

Dear Jan, Terry, Karen and Lauri,
Many, many times I started a testimonial for the Intensive and just as many times I stopped halfway through and discarded the words as nothing but inadequate reflections of the experience.
Having had the great pleasure of participating in Lightsong classes before, I arrived at Still Meadows certain that I was in for a wondrous week, but it exceeded all expectations. The facility, the forest, and the food were fantastic. Each session and each ceremony revealed new levels of wonder and deepened our connections to each other, to the spirit-realm, to the natural world, and to ourselves. I left feeling as though I walked in a different, more vibrant, world, though I know it was a change in me and not the world that altered that perception.
Had I written this immediately following the retreat, I would have stopped there. Now, a month later, I can add that the healing and transformations begun during the Intensive have continued, growing and blossoming as though I am grounded in fertile soil. All of the connections made during the Intensive continue and are evolving in ways I would never have predicted. Are words adequate for this on-going process? No! But they have to suffice for now!
The theme for the Intensive was Astonishment. I offer deep gratitude to you (Jan), Terry, Karen, Lauri, the Group and Spirit for helping me to recognize the Astonishment that can be found in every moment if I but open myself to perceive it. That will remain with me always.

I’ve suffered from horrid anxiety for 20+ years that manifested into me rarely being able to get a restful night of sleep. In 15 years of professional counseling, I would consistently ask: “How can I get it in my head but I can’t get it in my heart?” During an internet search, I came across a description of Jan’s book “Becoming Yourself: The Journey from Head to Heart.” I ordered and devoured Jan’s book. It read like it was written for me personally. I then poured over Jan’s web site, signed up for her newsletters and listened to her voice casts. Jan… and Spirits opened and healed [my] mind, heart and soul in ways that words cannot describe. [After my] Soul Retrieval with Jan, I am sleeping restfully every single night. The intensity and amazement are directly proportional! It all starts with Jan’s ability and willingness to become the hollow bone and set intention with divine love. It’s a partnership of co-creating with spirit as winter creates snowflakes, each one brilliant, unique and pure. We are amazed to realize the miracle of the snowflake is us.
